The sticky-sweet scent of syrup fills the air at Waffle Gone Wild, a place where creative flavour combinations abound and pancake loyalists eat in disguise. Waffle Gone Wild specializes in liège waffles made from a secret recipe its founders learned from a local Belgian pastry chef. However, they go beyond the traditional dish by flavouring their waffles with ingredients such as cinnamon and coconut and smothering them with a variety of sweet and savoury toppings. After customers place their orders, cooks bake the yeast-leavened dough into a fresh, golden-brown grid before spooning on a choice of gooey toppings including strawberry, banana and Nutella, and poached egg. Fruits are always fresh and seasonal and are sourced from local and organic farms whenever possible. Customers can further customize their meals with dollops of whipped cream or ice cream, or match them with 1 of more than 23 varieties of tea. Waffle Gone Wild also prepares slushes, fruit smoothies, and espresso with add-ons such as coconut jelly and pearls.
