It all started with a vision to teach children about chasing your dreams. Local Nova Scotia author Brian Hiltz wrote a book called Joey the Penguin. In this story, Joey desires to play baseball in the Antarctic and, despite all odds, he achieves this goal. In the sequel, a polar bear named Preston teaches humans about recycling. Fast forward to the construction of Ice Patch Hollow Indoor Playground, a play place designed for children that brings these characters to life in an interactive arena, promoting both the morals of these stories and fun for the whole family.
Here, children can climb through and play in colorful tubes and slides. Surrounding these are images of the characters from Hiltz's books, including mascots for photo opts. Arcade games and snacks are available along with obstacles and ball shooters for children to enjoy. For special occasions and birthdays, private party rooms are also at the ready, decorated with balloons to celebrate that special day.
