What do you want for dinner tonight? Chinese, Mexican, Italian? Barcelos Flame Grilled Chicken goes beyond the three most-craved food types and introduces palates to a new type of cuisine. The Portuguese-inspired menu draws ingredients and techniques from classic European and Mediterranean food traditions and mixes them with lesser-known African ones. The result is light and flavorful dishes that are both fresh and healthy.
The star of the Barcelos menu is, of course, the flame-grilled chicken. (The legend of the Barcelos rooster is one of the best-known emblems of the Iberian country.) The birds marinate in the signature peri spice of ground African chilis, lemon, and oil for 24 hours before being grilled to juicy perfection over open flames. From there, the chicken is served on the bone, in sandwiches, and on salads in the restaurant's fast-casual dining room or boxed up to go.
