About Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems

When it comes to building lifelong skills, the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems (IRIS) combines science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM)—as well as tons of creativity.Students will learn how to design and build their own Lego models, then bring them to life through a variety of platforms. They'll start with the basics, WeDo robotics, a tethered system that seamlessly bridges static models with simple movements. As kids hone their skills they'll graduate up to more complex systems, like Mindstorm EV3 or go full digital in Minecraft projects.Kids who are ready to show off their work can collaborate with fellow students to create awe-inspiring robots for the First Lego League—a competition that the IRIS team has taken first or second place in every year since 2014.
