The closest sensation to natural flight won’t be found inside a Boeing 747. Where it will be found, however, is attached to a paraglider, which can take anyone who’s always been slightly jealous of geese soaring through the air above the gorgeous terrain of Okanagan Valley. Paraglide Canada is located near Vernon, BC, the heart of the Okanagan Valley, and this area offers some of the best terrain and most consistent weather conditions for paragliding in all of Canada.
And participants will be in good hands with senior instructor and veteran paraglider Glenn Derouin, who’s been flying his way through sky for more than a quarter of a century. He can take participants on tandem 10–30-minute rides over the stunning landscape, or teach adventurers how to man their own expeditions through the big blue sky during student courses that prepare them for HPAC certification. Paragliders launch from a rounded, well-groomed, grassy slope, not a cliff – there is no jumping. Together with the instructor/pilot, participants take some running strides and are gently lifted off the ground as the glider begins to fly.
