Diners find teriyaki cutlets, barbecue drumsticks, and filled-to-bursting spring rolls at The Garden Windsor, but they won't find any meat—the restaurant is entirely vegetarian. But that doesn't mean cooks skimp on classic Chinese eats, or on satisfying, appetite-slaying fusion food. Pastel oceans of bubble tea cool palates goosed by hot, spicy kung pao fritters. Soy chicken forms the protein-rich base of the vegetable curry with mushrooms, and shrimp fried rice lovers get their fix thanks to a yam called konnyaku, which joins peas beneath a cloak of mango sauce. Steak-style patties, crispy seitan, and soy slices replace meaty meal stars, but still others simply highlight spicy eggplant or tofu-peppered noodles for a meal that needs no comparison.
