Runners encounter plenty of manmade obstructions along the Mudd, Sweat & Tears' 6K course—monkey bars, tires, the occasional half-finished ziggurat—but the biggest, most challenging obstacle is always Mother Nature. The event organizers search high, low, and in that weird middle area for just the right route. The terrain must contain varying grades, along with narrow trails, water, and enough to mud to make the race live up to its intimidating name.
Each step or climb pushes participants closer to their limits. After completing the muddy obstacles, it also brings them closer to free beers and fun at the finish line.
