Ballet Eddy Toussaint
Hailed “Champion of Classical Dance” by the Montreal Gazette, Eddy Toussaint has been studying dance since he was 6 under ballet masters throughout America and Europe.
- The real deal: Mr. Toussaint holds a bachelor’s degree in education and another in physical education with a dance major, and began teaching in 1973 at the Banff School of Fine Arts, in Alberta.
- A recognized talent: In 1976, his company was invited to the Olympic Games in Montreal for which he created a piece inspired by his native Haiti. During the following years, Mr. Toussaint toured the world with his company.
- Multi-award winning: In 1983, he received the Great Montrealer award, and the following year was awarded the gold medal for Best Contemporary Choreography at the first International Ballet Competition.
- International success: He was praised and honoured multiple times throughout the 1980s in Canada, France, Italy, Russia, the United States, and his beloved Haiti.
- Where is he now? Today he continues to create pieces and dedicates himself body and soul to dance throughout the world. As a choreographer for over 104 ballet pieces showcased in over 12 repertoires across the world, Mr. Toussaint is undoubtedly a true master.
