Romados: Authentic and Welcoming

This rotisserie is nothing short of a Plateau-Mont-Royal institution that has been bringing Portuguese delicacies to Montrealers for more than 20 years.

• Family and community: “Romados” is an anagram of the names of the founding partners (1994). Fernando Machado became the sole proprietor, and passed on the torch to his son in 2013, opening a second location together soon afterwards.
• Lisbon-style cooking: Its chicken is without a doubt the star of the show. Its tender meat, crunchy skin and hot-but-not-too-hot spice mix made it an instant classic.
• Got a sweet tooth? Romados is more than a simple rotisserie, and is also famous for its pastries and desserts including pasteis de nata, Crown Cake and more.
• A restaurant in demand: When you’re selling 300 chickens per day with a queue that keeps getting longer, it’s time to make some changes. In 2009, Romados expanded its kitchen and installed an ecological air filtration system.
